Overview
Do not picture a tower or a pedestal box: the Lenovo ThinkSystem D4390 is a deep, rack-mounted direct-attached enclosure that crowds a very large number of large-form-factor SAS drives behind a pair of expansion modules. There is no controller inside. RAID and volume management come from the host’s RAID controller or from software, which suits backup repositories, object stores and archive tiers built on a server you already own. Units are new and sourced only once an order exists. When the enclosure reaches Shenzhen we go over the expansion modules, power supplies and fans for completeness and note every serial against the order; it is a heavy item and is crated for freight after that. Warranty is 1-yr hardwaresys RTB + vendor’s own warranty. Before pricing, we need the host side: which server and which SAS controller it will hang from, and whether a second enclosure will be daisy-chained behind the first. Send that along with the drive fill you have in mind and request a quote.
