Overview
Strictly speaking, the PowerEdge MX5016s is not a server at all. It is a storage sled for the MX7000 modular chassis — no processors, no memory — holding a block of hot-swap drives that compute sleds in the same enclosure claim through the chassis SAS fabric. Where a compute blade runs short of local disk, MX7000 owners use it to add direct-attached capacity without buying a separate array. This listing is refurbished. The sled goes through our standard bench check: configuration compared with the listing, completeness and visual inspection of trays and connectors, and photos, logs and serials recorded against the order. Warranty: 1-yr hardwaresys RTB + up to 3 yr on request. The MX5016s depends entirely on the chassis around it, because it reaches the compute sleds only through MX5000s SAS switching modules in the MX7000 fabric.
