Overview
The XE7440 is the full-width compute sled for Dell's PowerEdge XE7100 storage chassis, and when it is fitted it is the only node in that enclosure: one sled with two Cascade Lake Xeon Scalable processors, with the chassis's whole bank of large-form-factor drives answering to it. That makes it a storage-optimised building block for teams that want capacity and compute under one lid — backup targets, object storage nodes, log retention — with its network card in an OCP mezzanine slot. This is a refurbished unit. Our workshop starts it, lets it boot, compares what is fitted with what the listing says, inspects it for completeness and cosmetic wear, and keeps photographs, logs and a serial record with the order. The warranty formula is 1-yr hardwaresys RTB + up to 3 yr on request. With that much disk behind a single node the RAID decision comes first: the PERC controller for hardware arrays, or the HBA for a software-defined stack such as Ceph or ZFS.
