Overview
The XR8000r is the chassis half of Dell's modular rugged system — the hardened frame that accepts compute sleds and turns a hostile site into a serviceable one. Buying the frame refurbished is the architecture working as intended: the enclosure carries the ruggedisation and outlasts the sleds it hosts, so a first owner subtracts little and the price subtracts a lot. The r-designation keeps it rack-friendly for the sites that turn out to be halfway civilised. Each chassis is commissioned at our Shenzhen facility with sleds fitted for test — powered, management verified, inspected and photographed, serials taken into the dossier. Cover is 1-yr hardwaresys RTB. The frame is a container for decisions about sleds, so describe the sled plan alongside the sites and request a quote.
