Overview
The T550 is Dell's large tower of its generation, effectively a rack server that stands on the floor. Sites buy it new when the building has no rack and the workload is nonetheless real — virtualisation, line-of-business databases, a branch that does everything locally. It is built to the configuration you send, after the order rather than before it. The finished tower is powered on and booted on our bench, configuration checked against the spec, completeness and visual inspection, photos, logs and serials recorded. Parts are bought from suppliers across China and audited by us in Shenzhen before shipping. Our term is 1-yr hardwaresys RTB, and anything longer belongs to the vendor and is named as the vendor's — + vendor to 36 mo. A refurbished T550 sits on a separate card and suits a spare or a second site; when the tower is the machine the business runs on, new is the version that does not need explaining later.
