Dell PowerEdge T550 — Full Technical Specifications
The T550 is the large current PowerEdge tower: two sockets, a proper drive complement and enough power for a small site to run everything it owns on one machine. It converts to rack mounting, which is why it is often specified by organisations that expect to build a cabinet in a year or two.
Offered as a new build to order and in refurbished condition.

A tower this size is chosen on the drive row and the supply row, and both repay a careful reading. The small-format build takes three times the drives of the large-format one and includes fast storage in the mix, so the choice is as much about workload shape as about capacity. Supplies run to four ratings and only the upper ones matter once both sockets are populated; picking a low one to save money is how a machine ends up unable to accept the processors it was bought for. Note that the form-factor row mentions rack conversion — that is a real option, and it is cheaper to specify now than to retrofit.
