Dell PowerEdge R6515 — Full Technical Specifications
The R6515 is Dell's single-socket EPYC machine in the thinnest rack profile: one processor with a high core count, filling a chassis that a previous generation would have needed two sockets to fill. It was bought for dense virtualisation and for per-socket licensed software, where halving the socket count halves a recurring bill.
It appears as a new build and as refurbished stock.

The argument for this server is a licensing one as much as a technical one, so read the processor row with your software contracts to hand. The memory row uses every channel the single processor offers, which is why this model performs closer to a two-socket machine than its price suggests — but it has to be populated properly to do so. Bays are limited by the height, as always in this profile, and the small-format build with fast drive support is what most clusters take. Networking can go in the optional seat instead of a slot, which in a machine with this few slots is worth doing.
