Dell PowerEdge R940xa — Full Technical Specifications
The R940xa is the accelerator variant of Dell's four-socket server: the same four sockets and enormous memory capacity, in a taller chassis arranged so that cards and processors are paired. It was sold for large in-memory analytics with accelerated components — the kind of workload that wants both a great deal of memory and several cards close to it.
It is listed refurbished. Machines of this class come back from single projects rather than from fleets, so availability is by unit.

Full Specifications
The bay count here is lower than on the plain four-socket model and the chassis is taller; both facts point at what the extra volume is for, and that is the first thing to understand before comparing the two. Read the memory row next — forty-eight positions is the point of the platform, and the practical question is what populating them costs today rather than what the ceiling says. The controller row is short because storage on this class of machine is normally external. Power and weight belong in the site conversation, not the specification one: this is among the heaviest servers we list.
