The ST50 V3 is the smallest ThinkSystem tower: one socket, a handful of drives, and a fixed power supply, for an office or a workshop that needs one honest server. It is bought as a first server, as a backup target for a single site, and as the machine that runs a single application nobody wants hosted elsewhere.

Full Specifications
Read the power row and the drive row as the boundary of this machine. The supply is fixed, in either of the two ratings offered, so there is no servicing it while the machine runs; the drives are not hot-swappable either, which means the same for storage. That combination is entirely normal in this class and simply has to match the site. What is unusually good for the size is the slot row — four positions, one of them current-generation — and the pair of internal boot devices, which lets the operating system sit apart from the data. Memory is unbuffered and its ceiling is the real one.
