Server, backplane and firmware fit
A drive is only right if the backplane, the caddy and the controller all take it, and a DIMM only if the platform takes that rank and speed. Tell us the server model and what is already in it, and we check the part against all of it before the quote goes out.

Because it is where the difference lives. Samsung PM893 and PM897 look identical and differ by one block of the code (MZ7L31T9HBLT versus MZ7L31T9HBNA) — 1 DWPD against 3 DWPD. Seagate Exos X16 is ST12000NM001G on SATA and ST12000NM002G on SAS. Micron 5400 PRO ends -1BC1ZABYYR without encryption and -1BC15ABYYR with it. Send the full code including the suffix, or tell us the workload and we will name the part back to you.

Yes, and this is where orders go wrong most often. Dell uses dozens of order SKUs for the same wattage, split by configuration letter — 800W alone covers 450-AKMI, 450-AKMK and 450-AKMG, and 450-AEVF is a 1100W unit for the previous R630/R730 generation entirely. HPE keeps 800W Platinum (865414-B21) and 800W Titanium (865438-B21) as separate SKUs. Name the server model and we match it.
