Overview
The DS223j is where Synology's desktop range begins: a two-drive unit for a household or a one-room office that wants photos, documents and backups off individual laptops and onto something shared. It is supplied new in the retail box, with nothing between you and the manufacturer's own setup flow. Ours come through the China buying network, and the Shenzhen warehouse signs each one out. Every unit leaves powered on and booted on our bench, configuration checked against the spec, completeness and visual inspection, photos, logs and serials recorded. Cover is 1-yr hardwaresys RTB. There is no meaningful refurbished market at this end of the line, so new is also the sensible economics: the drives, not the enclosure, are where the money goes.
