The PowerVault ME5024 is Dell's entry shared-storage array in the small-format layout: a pair of active controllers, a front face of fast drives, and a deliberately small feature set. It is bought to sit behind two or three virtualisation hosts, or to give a database its own storage without introducing a storage platform to the estate. It is supplied new, built to the configuration you specify.

This is the shortest table on the site and that is a fair reflection of the product: an array like this is chosen on four questions, and they are the four rows. Protocol comes first, since it decides whether the array can attach to what you have; the family supports fabric, ethernet and direct attachment, and direct attachment is often the cheapest correct answer for a small cluster. The controller row tells you both paths are live, which is what makes maintenance possible without an outage. The drive row is the one to plan against, mixing capacity disks with fast ones. Everything an enterprise array does beyond this list, this one does not do.
