Overview
The MD1420 is not a computer at all — it is a direct-attach expansion shelf, the box you cable to a PowerEdge host or a storage head when the drives have outgrown the chassis that started the project. Estates buy them refurbished almost by default, because a shelf has very little to age: backplane, controllers for the enclosure itself, power modules. The host does the thinking; the shelf just has to be honest about its drives. Ours arrive from documented corporate decommissions, and our Shenzhen team runs each one through power-up with test drives recognised, condition review and the usual photographic record. The shelf carries 1-yr hardwaresys RTB. Capacity projects are quoted with or without drives, so state which way yours leans and request a quote.
